How do we ensure that we are happy at work ? Most of us spend 40 plus hours at work; and if we are not at work physically we are there mentally. Many of us dread Monday mornings and yearn for Friday evenings ; we count the days to the weekend. Living like this is simply a waste of good time and precious energy.

It is important to find ways to be happy at work. Being happy at work can improve mental health and wellness and can also improve overall work performance. Being happy at work shows up in the quality of you our work. So how can we ensure we are happy at work; here are some steps you can do to help you be happy at work

Having a nightly routine can help tremendously in getting your day off to a great start. When I prepare from the night before My day runs more smoothly which enhance my mood. For examples A1. Picking out the cloths I will wear the next day. Making sure my car keys and handbag is near the door, pack a lunch, prepare what I will have for breakfast . Trying to setup as much as I can do that my morning is void of stressors.

A Good nights rest I also find that if I get a good night rest, then my mind, physical body and spirit is at ease . I am convinced that making sure you get adequate sleep at least 8 hours per night can aid in a happier and healthier life, not only at work, but in all areas of your life. To help get a good nights rest put cellphones and other electronic devices in a drawer so that You won’t be disturbed . Try to go to sleep at the same time every night.

Another good thing to do is to give yourself some quiet alone time in the morning. Waking up early in the morning and doing prayer or meditation can foster happiness. This gives you time to ease into your day. This is a perfect time to set your intentions (putting your mind in the direction of happiness).

Do yoga, or light stretching . Or simply just be . Perfect time to allow the attitude of gratitude to grow. There are many ways that we can make sure that we are happy at work. We must first remember it is our responsibility to make ourselves happy and not give our power away to some outside force to make us happy. The Dalai Lama said is best. “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes through your own actions.” So let’s see how we can ensure that we are happy work; after all we spend a lot of time at work so let’s use this precious time wisely by investing in our happiness.
Yes we can be happy at work. We just have to make the choice to be happy.

When you are in the office you may choose to do a bit of socializing , grab a cup of tea before jumping into your days work. It is good to ease into your day.

It is good to take 5 to 10 mins to plan out your day. Taking this time can give you an insight of what is expected and what you will need to complete your tasks, which will make your day run much more smoothly which will add to your happiness.

Other things you can do at work to foster happiness is organizing your work area, create a To-Do-List, check for Action Items; and take breaks. This is very important. Taking breaks away from work while at work foster good mental health and wellness. Taking breaks gives you a moment to reset and come back to your desk with fresh eyes and minds.
